DDR4 2666MHz they used is way too slow for Zen 2, it must be crippling performance pretty badly

Synthetic benchmark doesn't really mean anything though.

While I agree value is higher for the 3700x, there is a pretty big gap between boost speeds that could benefit real world testing of CPU intensive games.

I'd be curious to see 3700x vs 3800XT in Fortnite for example...

The AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT has graced 3DMark again, this on Time Spy. The processor has shown that it is capable of reaching 4.8 GHz, 300 MHz above the Ryzen 7 3800X. Improvements over even the Ryzen 7 3700X are negligible, though.
