pay only 490$, the spyware is on the house.

Again, yet another snobbish, whiny prick. Why don't you pay $4,900 for that CrApple instead, spyware on the NSA/CIA/FBI house.

Decent price, but can't really tell anything other until real world reviews drop. This can be a really good laptop or another shitty Chinese crap;

How is it that racist idiots like you don't go back to living in a cave instead? Since everything that is great about tech is made in China anyway?

How is it even "decent" price? This is fantastic unheard of pricing! Where else can you find anything like this for that price? 100% Adobe RGB color coverage, 90% screen to body ratio, very thin bezels that measure 3.26mm, USB-C PD charging from 0-50% in 38 etc. etc. minutes - Your shitty overpriced Made Outside China laptops almost definitely won't have these features, let alone this price.

Not saying I will buy this, but if my current 2.5-yr old Intel i7-8550U laptop fails for any reason, I wouldn't hesitate to get this as a standby or even replacement - its a no-brainer in terms of price-performance!

Yeah, 'cause reinstalling windows is a thing that nobody in the world is capable of  ::) I see no reason to expect this to be any more suspect than anything made by US companies. We all know how the NSA operates, after all.

What about the ports? HDMI 2.0? DP over usb-C? I like to run 4k external displays.
I've read the specs, too bad, Xiaomi is still stuck with HDMI 1.4 and USB-C over HDMI and no DP support too

Sorry to hear that, where did you find the specs?
Thanks!
From their official website. It's fully Chinese though https://www.mi.com/buy/detail?product_id=10000227

I would really like detailed specs as well - especially whether this is DDR4 or LPDDR4X, and if the former, whether it's single or dual channel and 3200 or slower. Beyond that, even with the anemic batteries these look very attractive for the price.
DDR4 dual channel, though, they didn't specify the speed and I'm pretty sure it can't be upgraded based on their "official" teardown (showed on their product page). (click read whole comment for the official site)

That 16" model could have definitely used higher resolution screen and dedicated graphic card as an optional configuration = Redmibook 16 Pro.

It seems that was not Xiaomi intention. Given the low spec battery they just went all-in for low budget options across the board.

Does the 16 inch version has a 16:10 aspect ratio?

No webcam at all is a weird choice for these laptops...

Xiaomi has launched the RedmiBook 13, RedmiBook 14 and RedmiBook 16. Available with a Ryzen 5 4500U or Ryzen 7 4700U, the new series can be equipped with up to 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. The RedmiBook series costs as little as CNY 3,499 (~US$490.28), too.
