Deepu, don't rush it! My Mi A1 is still working all right when it comes to 4G connectivity. Have you tried a reset or to talk to your mobile carrier? You should also try to ask for a solution on the Mi Community website instead of the stores. Try here - https://c.mi.com/

Don't know whether it's aftr the update...4g sim is not supporting in my MI A1, when I contacted the stores..they have no words..No support at all..Now I have to get a new phone...smart move by the company..but not very smart..I m not going to buy Xiaomi anymore :-[

Are you sure it's the May update? When do you usually receive these updates? I guess you're located in India. In Romania, I have been receiveing them at the end of the month for over a year now, usually between 25 and 28.

Rather unsurprisingly, there is a new Android Pie-based firmware update rolling out for the Xiaomi Mi A1 right now — at least in Eastern Europe. With a size of less than 80 MB, the new patch does not contain any noticeable changes apart from the usual security improvements and bug fixes.
