no laptop in range $600 which sells most, means AMD is really not prepared for laptops may be because of choking TSMC manufacturing capabilities. High value could have been attributed to RTX graphics but this junk with non RTX average performing navi is similarly priced. This means they are looking explicitly for low volume premium segment, but catch there, they are only able to compete with Intel and offering no better value. Intel at verge of launching new models, brand value which AMD built with destop performance is only USP. They could have gone for more powerful IGP with better value but that had been missed. They are really relying on GLoFo old models for bulk market where they will fight by reduction of price only.

AMD is getting a ton of appreciation.
The problem is these laptops are crap and poorly priced
exactly what i am talking about.
new laptops, same screens, much better cpu options.
you-crap and poorly priced
me-wtf?

Asus and MSI trying to exploit Ryzen hype and sell overpriced junk to consumbers.
exactly what im talking about #2
can you guys please give us examples next time. you know, what is not overpriced?
you're obviously very ignorant
the screens are NOT the same. maybe similar to the previous asus/msi "budget" options, which are crap, but they are not the same as other 144hz displays that are currently out there. this is literally the first time i've seen a 144hz laptop have 60% srgb coverage and presumably poor response times (never seen a 60% srgb screen with less than 30ms response times)

and... what's not overpriceD? walmart 1660ti evoo
a direct upgrade to the MSI laptops which although the MSI has it beat in CPU, the 1660ti is easily better than the 5500M which easily makes up for the CPU performance in games. has 144hz 95% srgb coverage 10-15ms response times, compared to 120hz 60% srgb and 25-30ms response times

and it's still a very solid alternative to the $1000 asus. sure, you lose out on 2 cores, but you get a screen that's actually good and won't give you ghosting issues.

8 cores without milking a customer. just like in desktops. never seen before in a laptop market. people should appreciate it way more :(

The problem is these laptops are crap and poorly priced (but that's in part due to the epidemic). Laptops have never have been about only the specs. Display matters a ton too in these gaming laptops, and ASUS has managed to butcher their laptops with sub-optimal displays.
That's why I (and many others) are holding out for other laptops.

this is not some 600 dollars laptop. Competitors like legion or Helios have way better screen. Msi could have easily given better screen instead of wifi 6 or upto 64gb upgradable ram. Same is the case with asus.
do not see amd name in this sentence.

Already saw the review of this laptop. Similar to asus tuf it's screen sucks. Instead of giving support upto 64gb ram could have given good quality screen. Why is that all AMD version laptops have trash screen except for one that is G14 even that has high latency. Do OEMs want to discourage buyers from buying AMD laptops?

The Ryzen 5 4600H model comes with 8 GB of RAM, while the Ryzen 7 4800H gets 16 GB. This difference will only set you back US$70. Both variants include 15.6-inch 1080p IPS displays with 120 Hz refresh rate, Radeon RX 5500M 4 GB VRAM dGPUs, and 512 GB NVMe storage. These are available for pre-order at NewEgg and will start shipping in late April.
