To put it bluntly we are getting lesser specced phones with less power and were paying MORE MONEY for them !!!!
Samsung sort your sh!t out they're expensive enough as it is 😡😡😡😡
The solution is very simple: just don't buy them. That's what really matters. If sales of Exynos based high-end models were to drop to below 10 %, Samsung would be quick to change their policy. If people keep buying them, why bother just to silence a few moaners? Simply skip a year. It shouldn't be a problem for most. If the petition doesn't help, one could try to organize a boycott. Just imagine the look on their faces if they got next to no pre-orders on a flagship.

hey Samsung we all know that your chipsets are weaker than Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets at least don't use your chipsets in flagship phones. And we also want to know where are the graphics made by AMD as you ventured with them and promised that we will have the graphics soon on your in house chipsets.

>for Samsung to ensure we weren't paying the exact same price or even higher than our US friends.
Is this guy stupid? The purchasing power of Euros is even worse than USD, in general, they get less for more? Why don't they whine about paying more than the US for the same food or something?
When you account for differences in taxes, which you can hardly blame on the manufacturer, we often get a better deal. That's not the problem. It is what it is. We are used to it. The problem is that they make two versions of a device where one is clearly inferior, ask practically the same amount of money (again, putting aside taxes) and don't give us a choice. I imagine the only reason they make the Snapdragon version is that they fear they would lose market share in the US and China big time. They're essentially saying we can kiss their collective asses. That's their opinion of us. If the Exynos version was cheaper, it would be easier to swallow. We would still moan about not having the best. We just wouldn't feel as shafted.

Now that Samsung is ditching their in-house CPU architecture team in favor of just licensing ARM cores (and licensing AMD GPU IP instead of licensing ARM GPU), we'll see if they can deliver at the high end.

In the low-mid ranges, they do seem to have decent chips, though all reflect a lack of Samsung designed cores.

While the reasoning behind the Samsung designed SoC is not from a consumer's standpoint there is still a logic to it:

•when it comes to mid-low ramge phones the popular choice of SoC is a Qualcomm one, which means samsung has to get a hold of them, this includes signing a deal to buy an x amount that will suffice for the estimated demand, pay for the shipping cost, engineer the device with integration of the SoC in mind (which means the engineers need to study about it from the source).
All of that for a device that is not centered around performance or battery life...
But when using a SoC that made by themselves they can tailor the chip to the exact needs of the device, cut on (most) of the shipping cost's because it is made domestically, have the exact amount that they think will be demanded and the ability to make more if demand exceeds, make the most out of the chip because they know it at its lowest level and over all cut the cost for the end consumer.

•they can use the experience they gain from designing a chip to develop SoC for other devices such as smart TVs (a market already dominated by Samsung), IoT devices (a field still developing) and networking equipment (a field that at the high end is dominated by american companies and by Chinese ones at the low end) and make better products in those fields.

•the more companies joining the mobile SoC market (which is dull) the more competition Qualcomm has which drives them to make better products.

I don't realy think it will change anything, but I would like to have better SOC in Samsung phones in Europe.
So let's at least try ;)

A few days ago, a discontent smartphone owner created a petition requesting the company to stop using its "inferior" Exynos SoCs. The petition has quickly gained traction, accruing over 11,000 signatures within 48 hours.
