Well.........Mali's to blame, most likely. Or they need driver optimization.

It's this. The gaalxy s7 suffered a similar performance issues as demonstrated by gamebench.

It seems that there are some and diverse problems on Samsung devices since past years and it seems that all this can be attributed to mali drivers and problems of mali performance but also to how the game studios optimize the code for certain chipsets and devices. In the article i linked it's said that a bug was found in the game, that is the same series of games as this one, and it hurted player competitiveness causing serious frame rate drops. On top of that you can add the problem of android being an operating system for a very big number of hardware configuration and it's obvious that it will Always be less fluid than apple can be. It's a disadvantage when you don't develop the system for a given hardware configuration and if the game is not optimized or the gpu has problems since gpu on a phone is a major factor for displaying how and how fast you get the application response to your input, things will obviuosly get much worse. It also seems however that Samsung Always has a high fluctation in some games while other android competitors get lower rates, but even then the 20%  lower fluctuation what brings to you, 4-3 frames instead of 5 on a total of 40 ? That's not even noticeable in a vacuum not even bringing up the question of traditional phone user. Of course an hardcore user will notice that, reading the numbers of this article but even then, apart form the fact that it could likely fixed via updates, but it can't be called bad for games, but bad against other flagships, to me it seems sufficiently playable. Regarding the question of playability on exynos chipsets i would say that the s9 gave solid frameerates virtually on all games, judging by notebookcheck's review, it had to make do  with some graphic quality limitations or frame rate limitations on some games but it managed well the gpu situation. This i sof course more of a problem but for example i would have bought for sure the s9 given the chance especially against the likes of other companies that give a suite of optimizations for certain famous titles but fails to meet a standard performance for a game on a phone of that price range. Also it should be tested on other games than nba wich is also a games that shows problems by itself. Thanks for the article on the performance report.

When shelling out up to the equivalent of US$1600 for a new phone, one would expect it to be the class-leading in performance, or at least better than last year's releases. Not the Galaxy S20, though, as a new test has shown the Exynos Galaxy S20+ getting absolutely destroyed by a Snapdragon 855-powered S10+ at gaming.
