This laptop has been nothing but trouble.

Hinge issues, screen flickered all the time. I was a student and had to do without it for months while being fixed. Now it overheats and crashed constantly. Absolutely furious. Never worked. Waste of money.

Same issue here. It started with what appeared to be a bearing or gear on the hinge breaking, it seemed to be made out of cheap plastic. That was a couple weeks ago and I have been tenderly opening and closing the laptop but the issue has progressed and the plastic casing around the hinge keeps expanding further and is now including the casing around the bottom of the screen itself...I have taken good care of this equipment and it seems like this is not just normal wear and tear and it happened much sooner than one would expect after spending around $1.2K on this computer.

Exactly the same problem with mine. Fairly new laptop with no mishandling of any sort. I really look after my equipment and buy from renowned companies to ensure I don't waste money. However the hinge of my laptop just pushed out, is weak, and is very clearly a design defect as can be seen by numerous posts and threads on the intermet, including the Dell website itself. Dell has also locked the thread so no one can comment, indicating a clear hiding or repressing of the issue. Really unfair that I have to replace this myself.

We bought the G3 15 3590 in July and the limited hardware warranty is until March 2021.
The hinges broke after a few months. Dell's Customer Care denied warranty coverage citing wear and tear. However they admit that wear and tear begins with first use and that hinges are always excluded from warranty coverage. If I want it to be fixed they will do so only if I pay for it.
The warranty fails to mention that hinges are excluded.
I would like to see an honest warranty and the repair of this design defect.
Consumers should be able to open and close a laptop without expecting it to break.

I have the second Vostro 5568 for repair, just a year after purchase. The nuts holding the hinges into palmrest come out from their weak plastic surrounding. The lever towards the hing is way too short, and the tension of the hinge is very strong. So this is failure by design and I'm seriously in doubt, if a would by any dell laptop again.

IMHO the screws should be fixed in a piece of metal that has a better fixture in the plastic housing.

I'd also like reviewers to at least examine the hing fixtures. With a little bit of experience, one could estimate, if those would stand 3-4 years of opening/closing the lid.

I'm very disappointed that a laptop, which is very much up-to-date technology becomes more or less unusable by this, after only a couple of months.

I purchased a G3 in February.  The hinge snapped in September while lifting the screen.  It has barely left a desk and definitely has not been dropped or handled roughly.  My experience with support has been awful.  They refuse to cover it under warranty and I've been hung up during transfers the two times I tried to speak to their repair team - and that's after a long wait where someone tried to figure out where to direct my call.
I've been faithful to Dell for years.  I bought three Dell laptops this year alone.  I need to purchase 2 more high end laptops for my business shortly.  I will not be purchasing from Dell.  What's the point of the warranty if they won't fix what is a known issue?  The number of departments I had to pass through just to talk to someone was unacceptable and each one had to call me back at a later time.  Avoid this laptop at all costs.

I bought my laptop 2 months ago. The left hinge is broken. when I close the lid the screen from back side comes apart. This is affecting my display also.

Same problem here. After reading about Dell's lackluster service, I pulled it apart myself and found that the lid cover holding the screen has mounts that pull out of the plastic. This lets the hinge pull away from the lid during opening which is behind the screen so it pulls the screen out as well. Very concerning. I bought a new lid cover and will replace that myself to fix the issue. May see if there's a lubricant that allows the hinges to open with less resistance to ease the tension on the plastic hinge mounts. Fingers crossed.

We have a Dell G3 15 3590. This laptop never moves off the desk. The left hinge is pulling apart and when it does it pulls the bezel away from the screen. It is still under warranty, but Dell just told me our basic warranty doesn't cover 'cosmetic' type damage. Cosmetic? This isn't cosmetic since the hinge is not functioning and pulling the case apart. I've seen over 40 other people in one of the Dell community threads, with the exact same hinge issue. We are basically leaving the screen open to prevent further damage, but having to resort to this is not right. This looks to be a defect in this series of laptop that Dell should cover.

We actually have two of these laptops. The other one has not had this issue as of this moment.

Yup, same with me, the G3 sits on a desk, no mark on it at all so no, it has not been dropped. The hinge (s) broke and I had to pay for sending it in via UPS. I will be taking them to small claims. I got a lot of time and the possibly extra money is worth it as it is truly a design flaw. A quick search online shows a lot of G3s out there with the same problem.

Users have been experiencing hinge issues on their months-old purchase that they are claiming to be a design flaw on the budget gaming laptop from Dell.
