Yeah, same issue on the Thinkpad P1 Gen 2 and the Quadro T2 Max-q. I even brought this up to a customer service rep when was laptop shopping last year and the response was "it's on the spec sheet, and any consumer of this product would likely know they are getting the Max-Q variant". When I pointed out if that were true then it shouldn't be that big of a deal to advertise it as such there wasn't any push back. I come to find later that the spec sheet the customer service rep gave me is incredibly difficult to find online and if you do a cursory search of the P1 gen 2 spec sheet you'll find one that DOES NOT say the T2000 is the max-q variant.

Granted the differences between the T2000 mobile and max-q variant are borderline negligible, that being said it still illustrates a lack of transparency.

In which market?

In the UK and Germany, at least.

Lenovo even lists just the GTX 1650 on the box of mine.

All variants may list the GTX 1650 in the NVIDIA Control Panel and GPU-Z if running Lenovo drivers, though.

Lenovo may continue to advertise the ThinkPad X1 Gen 2 with a GeForce GTX 1650 GPU in many regions, but that is simply not the case. While the device's GPU has always performed like a GTX 1650 Max-Q, an NVIDIA driver update confirms that this is the case.
