Pretty decent build almost at MBP levels. Keyboard not brilliant but not bad either. Screen reasonable - being IPS is a great relief....  does its job well.

Good basic machine for development on the move with an IDE.

This laptop has a garbage keyboard & touchpad.
Nonexistent key travel. Terrible for typing unlike the nonsense review said.
Other than that, it's a great laptop for price. Good screen, fast, etc.

does not throttle my a**.

Give it several weeks and you will get throttling by textbook.

Because this shitty laptop has worst heat sink grill i ever saw, it is perfect dust catcher. So in several weeks in normally cleaned bedroom you get dust carpet over half of this grill. And than fun begins.

Also this shitty laptop has shitty plastic click-clack system for fixing lower deckel. Despite fact, it has enough screws to hold deckel without this system and oh also it does not fit correctly so I was unable to put it back correctly.

Thanks a lot, notebookcheck for your inadequate review which encouraged me to buy this shitty laptop.  >:(

I bought mine D14 (R5-3500 / 8 GB / 256) a few days ago based mainly on this review. It is my back-up unit, used for viewing Internet and e-mailng (no games or heave loads).
Battery life is approx. 7 - 8 hours in really light use. Hoped for better but that is OK for me.
The fan however is quite annoying: it is not loud but goes on for most of the time while temperature remains normal and CPU load is low.
Have an issue with the night light mode - it just doesn't activate as it should.
Other than that: mediocre screen, nice touch pad, not bad housing, quite nice keyboard.
Generally speaking: you get what you pay for. I would not rate that laptop that high, however.

where did you get the battery life specs from??? most people getting 6-7 hours ,i purchased a d14 on the strength of this review and the stas for the battery llife are total rubbish

Are you sure you have the new 3500U version? The 2500U version had poorer battery life because the old ryzen architecture could not throttle back as far.

If you had the 3500U version I would love to hear it, because I'm considering purchasing one and this could swing my opinion towards another laptop (Asus UM433DA with 3500U).

Got the datasheet for the matebook USB-C.
USB-C is 2.0 without any display alternative mode.
That explain why our 3 Matebook D14 can't display anything with our dock station.
Clearly a fail, and a stupid one that is, how cheap can you be to cut corner here?

Guys,
In my country this laptop is pretty much the same price than Ideapad s540-14IWL. Would I be correct thinking that s540 is better value for money than d14??

bought the 14" at day one at an event at the Huawei shop in Milan on February 13 ... what to say, I'm thinking of selling it. In 2020 I find it inconceivable that if I connect two HD to a laptop the transfer speed is 40 MB per second because one of the ports is USB 2.0. I obviously tried to connect two HD one to USB 3.0 and the other with an adapt cable to USB C but nothing to do, always speed from USB 2.0. Inconceivable there is a product that wants to mimic the top of range has a similar flaw, (My 2016 HP had 3 USB 3.0 ports) .. good laptop but nothing more, even as autonomy in my opinion the reviews have been very lenient ...

Interesting battery life results, in my case 1 hour of 1080p YT with around 70 % brightness drops battery from 96 to 77%, the main problem - coolers living they own life
