How is this a big deal? Ukraine is still selling new Galaxy S8 and S9 officially with a discount and warranty, and we could buy a brand new S7 after S9 was released so I'm sure other countries had a similar thing going. However, what makes you so sure that they would alter their update policy?

Instead of ending production of the Galaxy S10 series, Samsung will keep making them and selling them officially with a US$150 permanent price drop. That could have an interesting effect on the support lifespan of the phones, and their resale value.
