What you're not seeing when your comparing, is the 10710U is a 6core/12 thread part and it only gets 20% higher multithread.

With 50% more cores.

And single is almost identical.

And there may be 4 gens, but the article is comparing 3 gens of 14nm. Why are people a**holes just because they don't like the results? It's so childish.

It's actually 4 generations of 14nm dumbass article writer. We started 14nm on 6th gen skylake. Now we are on 10th gen which is number 4 learn to count.

Meanwhile over at Anandtech they're saying Ice Lake is slower than Comet Lake...both may be true :) Intel's going in circles.

P.S. You also can compare i7-8559U vs i5-10510U or i7-8550U or i5-8259U or i5-8250U

Come on, you know these are not 3 generations, but more like 3 refreshes. Given they have the same specs and same process, I would say 20% is a big improvement. Why don't you compare the 10710u with the last 8550U? Then you will see something in the order of 50% more. Lets not be hypocrite.

If you're in the market for a new laptop, you won't be missing all that much by going with an older Whiskey Lake-U model. The hexa-core Core i7-10710U looks to be the only Comet Lake-U SKU to offer a significant gen-to-gen raw performance boost.
