The form is interesting but yes, as you said impractical. If this had a digitizer and an OLED screen things would've been different, but obviously not.
The 3-way RAID0 is also interesting, but the advantage is small and as expected 4K doesn't benefit, and 2 Intels at this price...talk about cheaping out. No performance advantage elsewhere either.
Overall grossly overpriced, this is quite clearly worse value than even their workstations which demand business level pricing. Perhaps the tiny volume they can expect to push is the greatest justification.

QuoteIn terms of technology and quality, the ROG Mothership GZ700GX is an excellent high-end laptop

we know, notebookcheck's standards are pretty low.
285 nit screen(with mediocre colors btw) and 5k rpm tiny coolers are nor technology neither quality.
industry is unable to invent a bigger less noisy cooler, they uses the same for DECADES. just think of it. even for 5kg machines, when you have all the weight and room. they says to the customer-we dont care.
and for 7k? this device is an absolute dogshit. highest level of it.

Due to its particularly innovative products, Asus has often been the center of attention in the past. Now, with the ROG GZ700 and after the watercooled ROG GX700, comes one more unusual gaming laptop. The 17-inch device sets itself apart with a convertible design. However, the price leaves us speechless.
