Is this meant to be a trick by AMD? How exactly is this meant to work in AMDs favor?

If Nvidia reduces launch prices and prices of the current RTX cards on the market then more people will be more inclined to upgrade to a new Nvidia GPU.
This further reduces the potential customers for AMDs new series of GPUs if they even get released this year, and also forces AMD to sell their own new lineup at even lower prices, in other words AMD just shot themselves in the foot, buy making people buy Nvidia, right before their own release.

If I brought a new Nvidia GPU right now and then a few months later AMD releases a new GPU at the same price but has 10%+ more performance and I personally wanted a bit more performance specially to buffer the hit my 2nd 4K display has when it's turned on I'd just buy the same Nvidia GPU all over again and have the option of SLI for a much higher performance boost.

On top of that if I was a content creator in which I'm not I'd still buy Nvidia purely because AMD does not support CUDA, hence why the Radeon VII is a rebrand of a failed card that failed for that very reason.

Pretty sure the RTX 2080 ti is the king of GPU's.  Still the same price.  Soo many articles about how AMD duped Nvidia in pricing.  Not sure why it matters.  AMD's problem in the GPU market isn't price, it's performance.  Why don't you write articles about AMD performance issues..?  Why they can't make a card that competes in the high end market.  AMD's Ryzen 3900X looks amazing though.  How about an article about how Intel missed the memo on L3 cache.

Wow, some serious hate going on in the comments.

Whether or not you like AMD, their presence is forcing Nvidia and Intel to price their products better and actually make more of an effort to innovate.

Ultimately, it's us consumers who win.

Let go of the anger. None of these companies even know you exist. Just buy what makes you happy and focus your energy on something worthwhile.

Good job AMD fighting Intel and Nvidia simultaneously like a ninja yielding 2 swords and winning. Don't listen to the Muppets slagging off Amd as amd is bringing to the table high end gaming at better prices for millions of happy people who are enjoying AMD products on a budget. Amd is uncovering the fact that Intel and Nvidia have been ripping off there own customers for years even though they produce good quality products through lack of competition due to Intel's devious marketing practices which crippled Amd for decades.

Lol that's why i really hate amd! Amd is hypocrite company that pretend to be a good company

If amd really want to jEBAIT nvidia, they will not announce $449 for rx 5700XT!
Amd was surprised nvidia will release SUPER refresh series for RTX!

Nvidia just give the same prices for RTX super
Look at the RTX series price

RTX 2070 @499 released in 2018
RTX 2070 super @499 replace rtx 2070 in 2019! What's wrong with that?
Amd thinks, nvidia will cut the price of rtx 2070 so they want to charge amd card for $449!
And nvidia always make a shocking move, nvidia release super version to replace old gpu

And amd doesn't have a chance to charge higher price for garbage navi, because rtx2070 super destroy all amd cards except in stupid SJW game BF V racing game Forza and  world war Z game for kids

Fock of scott, you hide the truth
Many people hate amd, including ME because amd is just HYPOCRITE company using dirty propaganda to trick stupid people! Garbage

You obviously watched Paul and Kyle's live stream and then proceed to use Kyle's punchline to title your article... which was used in the exact same context. How...... completely unoriginal.

What grown a** man uses the word jebait? Ffs

"Jebait is a word used by prepubescent virgins across the gaming community, they use this word at any and all times. The word jebait has two definitions the first being when someone gets pranked or nae naed really badly. The second being if something is debatable but you just say jebaitable.
1. "If the person working with urban dictionary doesn't approve this definition you could say I got jebaited."
2. "You think roblox is gay? That's jebaitible." "

- I would never want to be caught using this word then!

AMD's VP of Radeon Scott Herkelman recently revealed in an interview that the company keenly observed NVIDIA's launch of the RTX 20 Super series and revised the pricing of the new RX 5700 series GPUs to undercut NVIDIA's RTX 2060 and 2070 Super GPUs. The initial pricing of the RX 5700 series was deliberately kept higher to trick NVIDIA into reducing its launch prices.
