Wanted to add my comments after living with this laptop for a few months. Overall I doin't like it - too many things annoying me whereas my chunky HP beofer this never did annoy me (supprisingly). No issues with performance but the two maun things for me are 'going to sleep' problems and the backlit keyboard. If I click start then power then sleep it wakes up after half a second and that's annoying. If I close the lid it doesn't sleep properly sometimes draining the battery. There's a slight chance I could remedy this by playing with settings but not the next issue - the backlit keyboard.

I really need a backlit keyboard because I sometimes use the laptop in low light. The problem with this one is it is next to useless because you can only see your backlit keys if you look almost directly down at them. If you look at them from an angle as in when it's on your lap then the backlighting does nothing except slightly shine out from under the keys themselves. Also my clock keeps changing to 2064 suggesting a cmos battery issue but that might be some software I installed recently so I'll hold my judgment as I've only just removed it.

Mine was also very noisy at the initial install, but apparently it was doing a lot during the first setup and updates of Windows.
If the fan now turns on, it is almost only when it is plugged in, not when running on battery (at light load like web surfing)
It can run with the fan on at battery operating, but only when running tasks like compiling stuff. (or Windows updates)

If the fan is on, then it is quite audible, but it is not a high pitch noise known from other laptop fans and it has a bit rattling sound like something is stuck at the fans. Note there seem to be 2 fans in there, so maybe they interact with eachother and cause vibrations then.

I have the core i5 version, so maybe with an i7 it is more noisy?

Has anyone encountered issues with the fan on this laptop? I've had mine for two weeks now and the fan is almost constantly on, even when the laptop is doing very little (3 chrome tabs open, for example). The fan makes a slight clicking noise too. From this review it sounded like the fan was near silent.

I am curious how durable it survives small drops and water spill on keyboard. Yes I did buy Accidental Damage but reason wanted to know was a glass of water killed my 6mnth old expensive msi gaming laptop without a chance of warranty. I thought laptop casing/keyboards were study but apparently not.

Could you elaborate on upgrading the ram to 32 GB with only one DIMM slot on the motherboard? From searching online it seems that DDR4-2400 PC4-19200 modules only go up to 16 GB.

I recently bought a Thinkbook 14s and would like to upgrade the memory beyond 16 GB if that's possible.

yeah bottom bezel is just dumb as hell.
why they keep doing it with us?
..one of my laptops is a 330-17 model. beautiful thing(well, not screen, too dim and angles are far from true ipc)
fast, cheap, usb-c, barely audible, looks solid from any perspective, no giant sized logos or childrens curves.
and bezels..wide bezels, all 4. and i dont care. because in look like just a design, the whole thing is a bit bigger than it screen size. it looks organic.

Why is it that Lenovo seems to be fixated on the concept of... lets see how much we can take away from what make our products special and people still buy them?

Its not a thinkpad without a trackpoint... but its a thinkbook business laptop... but its keyboard is crippled for business use with its 1/2 height up/down cursor keys.    Then they make it more costly for the enterprise by requiring their own slim tip charger on a machine quite capable of being charged with usb-c power delivery.

Its not a contender for any use case I would buy or recommend buying.

Quoteit is incomprehensible why Lenovo retained its proprietary slim-tip charging port over USB Power Delivery (PD)

This is astounding. It would have been a nice machine but its crippled connectivity makes it simply unable to compete, and probably not worthy of 88%.

QuoteAlso weird choice of 'cons'. It's not a business laptop so not sure why it's getting docked for not having certain features of business laptops.
It's advertised as a business laptop on their website.

(Unrelated to above) The website advertises this laptop as having S0 sleep / Modern Connected Standby. Does this work better on Lenovo's laptops than Dell's or Microsoft's? I only hear complaints about Dell's laptops even though it's Microsoft's software and should be consistent across brands

PWM is very disappointing. I wanted the 14s (which I hope is also reviewed) and assumed it would not have PWM on its FHD IPS display. Maybe it's a bit of a screen lottery on these though and I guess the frequency is high enough that even with PWM, hopefully it doesn't cause issues on lower brightness but still disappointing.

Also weird choice of 'cons'. It's not a business laptop so not sure why it's getting docked for not having certain features of business laptops.
