You can use the Thunderbolt USB C on the new XPS laptops to connect them to external GPUs. This XPS has a GTX 1080ti if you throw enough money at it.

The only downside other than cost would be lugging around an eGPU dock.

I might have to go with this option because of compatibility issues with AMD GPU - I found working with my XPS 15 2in1.

One of primary reason I got the XPS 15 2in1 - technically the EMIB technology I believe will be a game changer in the future.  And fact that this laptop has 2 and not a single TB3 is wonderful.

I purchase 16G 4K version of this computer because I love my XPS 13 2in1 and wanted more power - my biggest concern was the compatibility with AMD graphics card - CPU power on this notebook is amazing for a 2in1 so smaller.

I really wish Intel/Dell put a NVidia GPU in this unit - AMD suffers a lot of compatibility issues especially where I was most interested with professional applications.  Biggest problem is with program call Vue 2016 Studio  and also notice it with Steam VR test application.   I also found the AMD GPU has issues with older games.  Another concern is the specs on the 8705G indicated that AMD supports HDMI 2.0 and  I wanted to try out the test for HDR Blu-Ray support and could not get it work even on Samsung TV with HDR - and also curious the AMD GPU states  that it supports 6 screen but the Dell only suports 3.

I did have one issue with with update with Thunderbolt ports and driver updated but Dell support was able to fix it.

Otherwise it awesome - I can use it on my LG 34C88 ultra screen connected with my Dell TB-16 Dock.  I love that this notebook has 2 TB3 ports

I would take a AMD chip over a NV chip any day. I remember my last XPS with an NV chip, NV knew the chip was faulty and bribed the manufacturers to cover it up. So the manufacturers set fans to over 100% having them die after warranty. We had a class action lawsuit and we "won", until our lawyer back stabbed us and sided with NV giving us not even a fraction of what we were owed.  And it wasn't only the XPS, I had a few other laptops that failed on me due to that.

As for the XPS 15, I prefer expandable ram, I also prefer if they keep option for 128gb ssd if they do go built in. Because that is another point of rip off. I can buy a new 512gb ssd cheaper than a 256gb ssd upgrade is worth.

While I realize this can't be changed, I'm not eager to be the subject of AMD drivers for years to come.

I do like the device and realize the space and heat didn't allow an NV chip solution.  I'll  just have to remain hopeful for the future this might be possible.

I would love it if they made this 4K touch panel available on other models, particularly the AW 15.  Why?  Because some of us have the XPS 15 (or more than one) and really need that same screen but on something with a beefier 1070 or so GPU.  Can't get that much GPU into a body as small as the XPS, understandable, but why can't we instead also get that screen on something a bit thicker and with more GPU ability?  That does seem doable even if it was an add on cost.

Anyway, I really do love the XPS's and hope for many future models to keep the improvements coming.

Those eagerly waiting for the XPS 15 9575 with 32 GB of memory have just received a new confirmation from Frank Azor, who mentioned on Twitter that Dell is currently aiming for a September launch. For now, this convertible is only available with 8 GB or 16 GB of soldered memory that cannot be upgraded.
