3.2 square inches, missing decimal place. Which is around 4.5 cm each side and looks about right from the pictures of the GPU.

The guys over at Tom's Hardware wrote the die measures 815 mm2. It might be a typo and it could be 81.5 instead, or maybe they meant the whole package including the HBM2 memory measures that much.
It's for sure including the HBM2 memory as well, but no way can that be 32 square inch, which would mean each side of the chip is about 14cm long!

Ha, impossible for it to be 32 square inches, someones done a typo or misinterpreted something!  In fact, I can't imagine the die being 32 square anythings, 32 square mm would be too small, actually I suppose 32 square cm could be true - that would be each side being 5.67cm long - must be cm rather than inches!

So, I see in the table 1.5x the performance in fp64/fp32, so I guess the Volta GPUs are gonna offer in the ballpark of 1.5x the gaming performance of Pascal - that's my guess.

32 square inch die, really?
32 square inches is 206,451 square centimetres and that means that each side is about 14,36 centimetres long...

The Volta GPU comes with 32 square inch dies, which are 33% larger compared to the current P100. It integrates 5120 CUDA cores and 16 GB of XBM2 VRAM. Nvidia plans to release professional cards that pack up to eight V100 GPUs, as well as new gaming cards from the GeForce series. The upcoming GTX 2080 is rumored to cost US$699.
