I had mine for 1 year when the hard-drive died without any reason, same like Cheapmilk commented. Otherwise I was very happy with it.

had mine for 2 weeks now.
things I like: Does not get warm, makes no noise, and small (thus more portable) adapter. Also, many reviews mentioned the nice keyboard, something I didn't care about at first. However, it really is a nice keyboard and has made typing more fun and efficient.
Things I don't like: The adapter cable is too short for my liking (a bit over 2meters I'm estimating). The glossy screen! My previous notebook had a matte finish, so never had any issues with reflections and lighting etc. I knew the glossy screen would be reflective but I didn't expect it to bother me this much. And lastly, wifi connectivity problems when coming out of sleep-mode. If you google it you will see this is a common issue with Lenovo. I changed some settings to work around this issue, and for now it seems to work. But I'm still not happy that my new notebook has problems with a basic function such as connecting to the internet.

I got my lenovo G580 for Chirstmas. Within 2 weeks The battery has completely died and it has crashed from a virus. I don't use it for anything I don't use my netbook or home computer for. And, I had 2 virus softway programs running. The one that came with the lenovo and AVG.

Does the warranty cover hinge related damages or like many manufacturers are these "lid wobble" damages blamed on the customer and they have to pay for the under warranty term repairs?

More testing of the hinges is what I look for in a good review. The HP 6930P Notebook had the best hinge design but I can't find anything comparable in the current market  :(

Energy inefficient. Lenovo offers a simple office notebook with a Pentium dual-core processor for 339 Euro (~$425). The operating system must be chosen for there is none. Our test will show whether Lenovo delivers a cheap office notebook or a weak low-priced notebook with the IdeaPad G580-MBBG3GE.
