IIRC, even back when the very first zen 1 launched their prices weren't exactly lowered. It was just you were getting double the cores vs intel. They were significantly behind in gaming performance despite charging as much as they were back then too.
It's been multiple decades since AMD was an underdog and serving actual competitive pricing IMO, for their CPU division anyway.

This part genuinely confuses me and I have trouble believing tbh. If you look at last gen mobile CPUs, it's nothing special for an intel lunar lake laptop to get 20+ hours of YouTube playback at above average brightness on 65 Whr battery. Nothing comes close on AMD laptop side.
So they obviously have the capability to make more efficient CPUs when needed.
