Think about it. For $400 monthly, you can have your own, fully mobile internet without having a government or other organization tracking, monitoring, or restricting what you research, share, or post.

If you work a remote job. You can now work from anywhere in the world with stable, high-speed internet.

Building a constellation of satellites like this is not easy or cheap. Still, at $400 monthly for this, it's a steal.
Well about the tracking... You will not like the answer.

Quote from: NikoB on May 21, 2024, 11:37:07but there is a war in Ukraine

um ackshully it's a special military operation, you dumb westoid capitalist swine shill.

Also no: the Starlink rate increase isn't subsidizing Ukrainian units, otherwise you would have seen this level of rate increase two years ago. Starlink is facing pressure from Starship still not being ready to deliver more sats and the expansion of fiber broadband in the continental US wiping out wide swaths of Starlink's user base. So prices increase since supply is low and revenue is lower.

I know economics is hard for you nazbol type fascists.

He is stupid only if the business model assumed some kind of expansion of the sales market in a competitive war in the market for consumers. But where do you end up if you have no alternative? The goals of the Starlink system are obviously different and no one cares about the opinion of ordinary people about the size of the subscription fee at this stage. There will be real competition between several similar systems, and then there will probably be a change in prices for the better. Although the stars will soon no longer be visible against the backdrop of tens of thousands of satellites in such constellations,

There is no war for consumers yet, but there is a war in Ukraine (and other hot spots), and the Starlink fee is essentially a tax to pay for systems operating in Ukraine (and other hot spots). You pay for your terminal and for 1-2 terminals at these points, where communication is provided through subsidies. Everything is fine, as it should be. This is geopolitics, not business at this stage of development.

I like Elon and what he has done for Americans but yeah, doubling the price after the average citizen bought the equipment is a dick move.

Quote from: Damon on May 19, 2024, 21:57:45So I bought a satellite antenae for 1k$. Cad. Then every few months he increases the price, now doubling it!!! This guy is a total grifter POS. Rope people in with promises of affordable Internet then once we have paid for the equipment jack the price up.
Against the background of the subscription fee, the price of the equipment does not matter. The lamentations of ordinary people do not bother anyone (you are simply not part of the target group, are too poor to bear such expenses or are not able to get sufficient benefit from using the new subscription fee, which means your business strategy was wrong from the beginning), because. this group was never really planned as a commercial enterprise. so that Musk doesn't lie there. This is a geopolitical weapon developed jointly with the CIA/Pentagon for military purposes at a new level of weapons control. And this thing naturally works only in backward countries that are not able to jam this technology and are capable of carrying out acts of retaliation for work on their territory. Musk has practically lost control of this system, because... control over it passed to the Pentagon.

Bait and switch fraud.  Trick us into buying expensive hardware with promise of affordable monthly service, then jack up the price once a critical number of suckers are on board.  This is why no one should be allowed a monopoly on anything.  Elon Musk is no different from the other ripoff billionaires and American government lets him rip us off.

Starlink terminals and monthly service is half the price in Europe where honest governments protect their citizens from corporate abuse.

The American deal is just like the prescription drugs they rip you off for, drugs sold at a profit for a fraction of the American prices in Canada and Europe.  A bribe to congress allows them to jack up your price because the American two party system is so easily corrupted.  With multiple political parties they are forced to compromise because no one party can achieve the majority.  Two party systems mean they take turns being dictators while vilifying the other party and blocking all progress.

Never trust Elon Musk or his products. He is very unstable and screws people around with his crazy business pric8ng changes.America has never seen such an opportunistic business. His products are good but he can't be trusted with the pricing. He messed up the auto market very badly trying to nickel and dine during the pandemic and the result was basic car cost has gone from 20k to 35k.
Even the supercharging is so costly that people stopped using tesla Ona Ling drive.that probably explains the dismantling of whole team.what did u expect from a unstable ceo.no one is going to pay 200 for roaming internet.I learnt my lesson and will stay away from his products whatsoever to avoid the heartache.

😬 That's insane, but until competition catches up (doubt) Starlink can do whatever they want to do

So the millions of us using the service with integrity are being punished for a few bad actors. Maybe a better solution would be to block the kid's of the offenders. Spacex...you should be ashamed!!

SpaceX has started sending emails to Starlink satellite Internet subscribers that their roaming plan price will double. For new subscribers, the Starlink price increase is immediate.
