Having a heat pump is definitely much better than traditional heaters.

I'm not sure we'll see this outside of China though (and it'll probably be crazy expensive).

Xiaomi has launched its first heat pump washer-dryer in China, a 13kg-wash, 9kg-dry Mijia model with a recommended price of CNY 6,499 (about $970). Xiaomi claims the heat pump uses 73% less electricity than a condenser washer-dryer and dries 49% faster with twin fans, while a large language model recommends programmes from users' descriptions of their clothes.
