OpenAI sets a cookie called __obi on ChatGPT, keeps it for a year and ties it to your account. Visit a site that buys ChatGPT ads and your browser hands that identifier back to OpenAI along with what you were looking at. OpenAI's own cookie policy files it under analytics.
