This is not good news. It means they were aware of the problem and chose not to fix said problem before releasing the drivers that screwed it up for literally thousands of users. Don't be an Nvidia apologist.

Nvidia recently released Game Ready Driver 616.56 to add support for some newly released games. However, it seems the update is causing different problems for some users, including flickering.
