There are no smartphones, tablets or ebook readers I would want to buy and new models do not change this.

Smartphones non-foldable, with at most 16:9, without hole in the display, with matte display and 15 years of security updates are nowhere to be seen.

Tablets with 4:3, matte display, 7+ of years security updates and fairly priced replacement batteries are nowhere to be seen.

Ebook readers with 7+ years of security updates are nowhere to be seen so cannot replace my tablet.

I want to buy but do not buy the non-existing. Bad compromises are no upgrade to my 10.5 years old tablet.

I wish the government would mandate at least 6 years of phone and tablet OS Security Updates and 9 years of PC security updates from date of purchase.  iPhones have come so far that I wish that Apple would stop doing Processor upgrades each year.  they only need to upgrade the cpu once every three years.  Use the same chip for 3 years so that they could lower the cost of chips and cut prices by at least $100 for the regular iPhone and "e" iphones and $150-200 for the pro models.  Americans are too squeezed and need relief.
In a 3 year cycle they could upgrade CPU first year, upgrade Cameras 2nd year, major upgrade OS 3rd year.  Naturally every year there would be Case Color changes.

I hope they do an OLED Surface Pro 13 tablet with a 358h and b390.  Something like the Z13 but lighter, with OLED, and better battery life.

What a sad era it is: majority of new/newish cars look the same, same is valid for notebooks, smartphones. The same is valid for clothing fashion etc. 50 shades of same laptop design everywhere.
