My Nothing Phone (3a) with 8 GB can keep apps (and tabs in Firefox) opened for days and days, no issues, yet my Redmi can't jump between TWO apps without closing one, lmao. Yes it is not crashing or anything but come on, that is not stable 😁 I am a Xiaomi/Redmi user for years, and that issue is going on for all that time, since MIUI 9 at least. Perhaps 64 GB of RAM would be enough to keep 3-4 appps opened? No idea...
Well... calling it unstable is a bit of a stretch. It just doesn't behave the way you want.
And for sure, adding more RAM won't fix it, as Xiaomi just love to unload RAM:
My Xiaomi 15 Ultra with 16 GB of RAM unloads RAM at the same speed as my Xiaomi Mi 9T with 6 GB of RAM.
Why do they do it? Well, one of the reasons is that programs and processes that are in RAM use CPU cycles, which shorten battery life.
The problem with that? Well, reloading stuff can potentially waste more CPU cycles than using low powered cycles to keep stuff loaded on RAM.
Whether it's higher or lower than the other option is heavily dependent on how you use your phone, so... (shrug)
With batteries getting larger and larger, personally I think it's time Xiaomi changed strategy, and I'm with you on that one, but... still: HyperOS has been extremely stable for me (unlike MIUI, which... hasn't always been the best).
