Pokémon Champions soll mehr werden als nur ein neuer PvP-Ableger: Laut Produzent Masaaki Hoshino ist das Spiel als langfristige Plattform gedacht, die im besten Fall ,,für immer" weiterläuft. The Pokémon Works und Game Freak setzen dafür auf ein Live-Service-Modell mit wechselnden Pokémon-Pools, damit das Kampfsystem auch bei Tausenden möglichen Taschenmonstern übersichtlich bleibt. Der Free-to-Start-Titel erscheint am 8. April 2026 für Nintendo Switch und Switch 2.
