Android e-inc smartphones from the big makers when, tho? The issues with phones from, eg BIGME, is that they don't provide Android updates and are not being sold locally.
On topic: There's open source github development for this, if I remember correctly, and it can pull and display data from pretty much anything.
With e-ink and extensive capabilities: A new display that can also be used wirelessly relies on electronic ink and includes its own processing chip. WiFi is also supported, and creating custom interfaces is intended to be straightforward.
