- silent, no fans
- a very good CPU/GPU with amazing efficiency and single-thread perf
- amazing battery life
- a good bright display with reasonable response times
- quality speakers
- solid workmanship and hardware overall
- 16 GB RAM / 512 GB fast storage as the base configuration, which is actually enough for most users (much better than 256 GB)
There is simply nothing similar in the Windows laptop space. I would struggle to recommend Windows laptops to anyone around the 1k price point, basically it is pointless. And skimping a couple of hundred to buy a loud, slow, creaking, terrible Windows laptop is not a good idea, unless you really really cannot afford it or use it once a month.
absolutely untrue. NBC has tests and reviews of at least a dozen or so Windows laptops models from dell, HP, Microsoft, lenjovo, MSI, Asus that have competing hardware, sometimes even better, than the MBA with actual compatibility with pc gaming unlike on Mac where you have to emulate almost all PC games on steam. Manyvof these models have better multi core performance, higher quality and higher refresh rate displays, longer battery life (lunar lake showed up to 21hours of battery life on some models), and more configuration options for faster, higher capacity storage and dgpu options for superior GPU performance. You simply can't get those things on a MBA unless you shell out $2.3k+ for a MBP.
