The hubris of astrophysicists is often breathtaking. Thinking we had all the answers and then being shocked when something doesn't fit their understanding. It's one of the reasons I quite as an astrophysicist, I got sick of the almost religious zeal many of them had when clinging to their beloved models.
Scientists have discovered a planetary system with three planets — the closest one is rocky, and the next two are gaseous. But a fourth planet was later discovered farthest from its star, and surprisingly, it is a rocky planet. This rocky-gaseous-gaseous-rocky order beats current scientific understanding.
