The driver recommended by Dell is not the latest driver, but only the version that Dell has tested and certified for compatibility with the BIOS and hardware of the machine at the time of shipment. Therefore, even if it is older, it is still considered recommended. The sensible solution is to find an intermediate driver version or update the BIOS to achieve both: display on battery power and maintain SLI performance.

Hello everyone,,
I have the following problem. After I had no picture with my XPS on battery power, according to Dell I should replace the driver for my GK (2x nvidea 8700GT) and install a fresh BIOS. Unfortunately, the recommended GK driver does not harmonize with the SLI mode, so I only have half the power in mains operation. But the picture comes on battery power. If I take the old driver that was on the device again, the picture does not come back and the performance is 100% OK. The picture does not come only in battery mode.
The recommended GK driver from Dell is version date: 27.09.2007, version: 156.61, A03. The one on my device is 7.15.11.7532 from 06/10/2008. How can the driver recommended by Dell be current?

Who can help ???
