In not sure this is an issue. When were they the cheapest, by the way?

I think the real reason is they were hoping to figure out the process of dropping the price below the $25,000 importation regulation set below their usual minimum price in order to be able to sell to countries such as Canada who've essentially tried to lock them out of the new tariff deals. They just need to drop it a tiny bit more in the Shanghai plant then they're in the gravy boat.

Quote from: Eddie Foo on Yesterday at 14:56:46This shows a short coming of the idea of "giga factory". It is too difficult to produce anything much different than what it is producing now. Tesla don't understand that people want is a model 2 not a toned down version of what they had now. If I want a model Y I would get one. Oh I forgot I actually no longer want Tesla because they stopped selling FSD. Nevermind!

They still allow you to subscribe. 99 bucks a month. So deciding to no longer purchase a Tesla because you can no longer "purchase" FSD just doesn't make sense. What were hoping to do, sell the vehicle for a little more money in a decade? Get real. Those hypothetical potential purchasers would probably be just as interested in subscribing instead of buying anyways, which is what I assume most people do.

Tesla has found a way to offer the proverbial $25,000 electric car that was supposed to be called the Model 2 and be a shrunken version of the Model Y. Instead of coming with a brand new vehicle model, however, it has used an existing production line.
