AnonymousXD, ur basically right. Workstations, at least older ones, are really well built and are going to last. The new ones are maybe still good and are also going to outlast normal/mainstream and cheaper hw. But if you think mainstream hw are not going to break either, especially if one cools it well and you are ok with e.g. removing the bottom cover and put a fan base for better cooling, then, why not.

I'd understand powering the GPU with half the power for a higher power efficiency of 50 to 70% (so that the laptop workstation can be build smaller and lighter (the old ones are massive bricks)).
Workstations with the latest hardware exist.
