How much of this is just plain gouging? Create yet-another shortage to drive prices up.

DDR3-era computer components are over 10 years old at this point, there are cases where they can still serve a purpose (simple file servers), but aside from that?

Sadly, people can't shake off their FOMO syndrome and walk right into it.

That is progress. AI will seem so much more capable when private ownership of computers is rare.
