Quote from: Watchful on January 13, 2026, 06:55:51Lol it's definitely worth setting up a dual bit system just for a couple of games running slightly faster that most likely is below the threshold of perception. It's not even with sandboxing Linux in Windows.
Mostly it's about escaping Microslop's spyware/adware operating system.

Another Youtuber that has absolutely no idea how to do a proper OS comparison. Another irrelevant article. This is not an OS comparison. Linux OS itself does NOT offer a performance increase over Windows. This comes down to drivers & translation layers, NOT operating systems. A proper comparison is running a game that has both a Windows & a native Linux port and uses the OpenGL/Vulkan api. Windows ALWAYS wins.

Quote from: GeorgeS on January 11, 2026, 22:13:51All good information however "dual boot" can be problematic as Windows11 MAY inadvertently NUKE your SteamOS (or other non-Windows partition) at any point IT so desires. :( (as reported repeatedly on various Youtube channels)

YMMV.
Microsoft are just "asking for it" at this point (as in completely uninstalling it).

Linux-based gaming platforms such as SteamOS continue to gain attention as alternatives to Windows. To explore how they compare in real-world use, YouTuber ETA Prime tested an all-AMD desktop PC running both Windows 11 Pro and SteamOS, examining gaming performance across several titles.
