Is it perhaps the case that these celestial bodies are the denser cores of initally larger asteroids which shed their bodies through high rotational speeds? If so, their increasing density would have a similar effect to a figure skater tucking in to spin faster, no?
The Vera C. Rubin Observatory has discovered an asteroid spinning at record speed. But while this is a new record for its category, this celestial object remains very mysterious and further studies will need to be conducted.
