The Leica M11's 60 MP full-frame sensor comes from Sony, allowing competitors to offer cameras with the same sensor at significantly lower prices. However, this hasn't always been the case, and it could change again in the future, as Leica's owner has indicated that the Leica M12 might feature a sensor developed by Leica itself.
