The AI slop on YT is kinda infuriating. There's more and more of it. Some of it is made by taking video from someone else and then making AI guesstimate what is happening in that video and narrate it. This way it squeezes into non-new users interests/recommendations. But it is complete garbage. And with shorts you end up watching most of the video to figure out it is the said garbage. And you cannot opt out or filter this crap. Only your internal BS detector will help. When people intentionally subscribe to those channels then it just means they like the content. To each his own. But when you are increasingly suggested this stuff then it starts to grind your gears in an unpleasant way.
I've seen documentaries on youtube filled with AI slop. You can tell when they get stuck repeating the same phrase over and over, or when they randomly throw in some weird claim.
It's not just the shorts. I've been seeing a flood of YT videos purporting to be by relatively well known people like George Conway and Rachel Maddow and every one of them is an AI generated video using their likeness and voice. Amazingly, YT has no mechanism for reporting this.
Fortunately, in most cases there are a few "tells": 1. The facial expressions (blinking, eyebrow movement) don't match the content and tend to be weirdly either too repetitive or not repetitive enough. 2. You'll see hand gestures repeated exactly over and over that are out of sync to the content 3. The voice will sound weirdly emotionless. Not robotic, but a little too flat, especially given the subject matter. 4. They tend to always wear exactly the same clothing even across many days or weeks of posts. You can check this by going to their channel and looking back over the last few posts.
