I'm much much more interested in the customer service side of things having read multiple horror stories of Anker dragging their feet and struggling to find a courier that would be willing to ship a power bank never mind a 1kWh battety in case of having to return it.

I have and use the US model.

The LED light is a minor nit in the scheme of things. Get a USB based LED lamp. Turn on the port with your app, voila! Let their be light.

People wanted a lighter model just as powerful. The expansion option removal was because the take rate on it was a minor percentage of the purchases.  The expansions were being bought by people who undersized their wattage expectations.

This model fill a niche below people who need expandability.

The Anker Solix C1000 Gen 2 is a compact yet powerful power station. Compared to its predecessor, it is lighter, provides more power and charges in under an hour. In addition to improvements, there are also a few limitations, as our Anker Solix C1000 Gen 2 review shows.
