Imagine though if they'd actually made this good. The whole reason people even bought the virtual boy retroactively was for it to be part of their console collection, maybe have a neat conversational piece, let people try it out for all of like 10 minutes. It's like the other comment said; it failed for a reason. Now, if they actually updated it to be like virtual reality headsets that exist today... That would have actually been awesome. Call it Virtual Boy 2 or something like Virtual Boy Advanced. Have the original games available on the online membership store, sure, but also like... Let people really immerse themselves into already existing games, make it something useable for new Switch games. Make updated versions of those older games, make new ones that utilize its functionality. Keep the nostalgic look, but make it actually worth getting, you know? It would have been such a golden idea. In an age where VR headsets are actually now a real reality, there's no reason not to utilize that technology or even build on it to make something novel and unique.
Nintendo: Lets make morally and legally bankrupt decisions that will most certainly ruin our reputation then market a new console with worse hardware than it's predecessor, add a digital kill switch to it and sell games for it at exorbitant prices.
Also Nintendo: Why is our reputation tanking? We better do something innovative to rebuild faith in our company.
Everyone: You could start by lowering prices and removing that kill switch...
Nintendo: I GOT IT! An accessory to strap your switch to your face to let you play games from a failed console. That will surely do it!
No hate honestly if you want it. It's your money do what you want. But like why? If they made it better got rid of the black on red or added went full color. Or new games maybe but like this failed for a reason.
Enjoy the vision problems this thing gives you. I had 20/20 vision until I bought the original Virtual Boy. Afterwards, I was near-sighted and suffered headaches. I'm not the only one, either. This thing was a bad idea.
The Nintendo Virtual Boy add-on accessory for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 is now available to pre-order. However, you must have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription to be able to pre-order the device.
