It is a well known issue.

Your Xiaomi 15 Ultra is a top end phone with 12/16gb ram from 2025. But wait till a few years pass and Xiaomi feels like its time for your to upgrade.

The intentional aggressive memory issue is targeted mostly at their lower end devices to push higher end device sales. But even higher end ones will suffer same after a few years of updates.

That's exactly the same problems traditional brands have right now, if not much worse. Toyota might be somewhat of an exception (though they've also had serious reliability issues fairly recently), but the CEO of Toyota went full maga the other day, so... I'm not sure what the heck he was thinking.

I would do a lot of research before buying a Chinese EV in Europe. They have a very good price/feature combo. But reliability, bugs, problems with quality are very prominent. There are a lot of problems in China itself with those cars. Cars are a status symbol there and people react to problems even more than in Europe. Then there's Russia - they started importing all manner of Chinese cars after the start of the war. And they have a lot of complaints regarding them - general public has lots of YT videos on them and even more on commercial transport.
In EU there are a lot of articles that problems are not being solved. Fixes take a lot of time.
Basically, they still need time to sort out the support part of selling cars in Europe. And that's for BYD and others that sell them for several ears.
If Xiaomi started selling it's cars in Europe today. Then it would still likely take them several years to iron out the supply chain/support.

Surprising considering how bad they are, not the hardware but the software. They intentionally gimp the phones/tablets to make them worse. Out of all the devices, the Xiaomi one is the worst I've ever owned. And that factors in cheap Chinese junk devices. So despite having better hardware, the software is horrible.

And worst of all, the thing that makes it horrible is intentional. Their memory management is the worst. On any other android device you can at least tell it to let processes run. But Xiaomi ignores those settings. And every update only makes it worse.

I'm pretty sure that if priced reasonably, it would be a huge hit in Spain.

- Xiaomi has a huge chunk of smartphone sales: currently #1 brand in Spain, with almost 30% of the market.
- Chinese cars already cope 20% of EV sales in Spain: there's not as much "oh, it's Chinese, it must be bad quality" mentality in Spain as in other countries. Spanish people are more concerned about the quality/price ratio, regardless of the country of origin. Xiaomi makes great high quality phones that are generally less expensive than Samsung or Apple, so they'll go for the less expensive one. Why pay more for less?

Pack those 2 together and it would be a landslide for Xiaomi.

Either way, Xiaomi is not in a hurry to expand, as they still can't make cars quickly enough for their own country.
