Think of a piece of paper, when folded in thirds, tri-fold, but only 2 folds.

"Tri-Fold" refers to the number of panels folding in on itself, not the number of hinges. Similar to the "Tri-Fold wallet" there are 3 panels folding in, and the "bi-fold wallet" has 2 panels folding in. ;)

It only has two hinges and,this, two folds. Why is this called a TRI-fold?

Samsung has officially shown the Galaxy Z TriFold for the very first time. It's a foldable smartphone with essentially three displays, which means users can basically turn the smartphone into a tablet with a large screen. The South Korean tech giant has also commented on the release date once again.
