evn,
the M4 Pro has a 256-bit bus width (quad-channel) and LPDDR5X-8533.
The Core Ultra 7 255H / 285H has a 128-bit bus width (dual-channel) and LPDDR5X-8400.

So, while your Yoga Pro 9 Aura spec has 33 % more RAM, it's also twice as slow, but still, the 16 GB extra RAM can be crucial for certain applications, like running LLMs locally, where every GB of RAM is appreciated.

Also, the 8 GB of the 5070 Laptop can be added on top of the RAM when running LLMs, as a LLM can be partially offloaded to the GPU's faster VRAM. So it's really: 48 GB vs 72 GB.

But the display on the MacBook Pro 2024 is 1000 nits (vs 500 of the Yoga Pro 9 Aura), according to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacBook_Pro_(Apple_silicon).

That being said, APPLE tax is still a thing.

The cheapest MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro (14" 48GB RAM, 512GB SSD) is about 3670 euros (final price with tax).

The Yoga Pro 9 Aura with the 285H (16", 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD, nVidia RTX 5070, OLED) is at 3000 euros, a full 670 euros cheaper.

285H is fast, but even the smallest 12-core M4 Pro smokes it by 50% in multi-core.
C-RAY 2.0 (5K render, 16 rays per pixel):
   •   M4 Pro 14-core = 143s
   •   M4 Pro 12-core = 175s
   •   285H = 280s

For reference:
   •   285K desktop (maxed out TDP) = 137s
   •   9950X3D (maxed out TDP) = 163s

Every chip had PL1/PL2 maxed out.

When will Intel or AMD make chips that are even remotely comparable??? They don't even compete in raw power anymore, let alone efficiency. All this while Apple didn't even implement SVE2.1 SIMD — only 128-bit NEON. The difference with SVE2 will be astronomical.

The same difference can be seen in timed LLVM 16 compile runs, which stress CPU, integer, arithmetic, and branch prediction capabilities. All this can be found on openbenchmarking.org.

Whoever shoots the pictures of the laptops, is a nightmare. He doesn't clean his smartphone's lens of his filthy greasy hands secretions. I mean, that's a big no for a reviewer, and this happens to all the images taken for the reviews. I would fire that ignorant, impertinent employee.

Please test the high-end model with tandem OLED and RTX 5070.
A comparison with ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 or ProArt P16 would be nice. I wonder how they compare in terms of speaker quality and battery life.

The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Aura Edition is a high-quality multimedia laptop that impresses even in the base version with good performance and one of the best OLED screens on the market. Comfortable input devices and a great sound system round up the experience.
