Is it possible? I didn't know screen color gamut changes in HDR mode?!

The screen's color gamut is usually changed when switching between HDR and non-HDR modes, yes, because with HDR the gamut is restricted to lower range in order to prevent oversaturation of non-HDR content.

Instead of going thinner and thinner, the latest Legion Pro 7i 16 is thicker this year to squeeze out more performance from the Intel Arrow Lake and Nvidia Blackwell hardware. Power consumption may be high, but the raw performance is undeniable.

You're absolutely right — the Legion Pro 7i 16 Gen 10 has indeed gotten thicker this year, and for good reason: to accommodate powerful new Intel Arrow Lake HX and Nvidia Blackwell hardware while keeping thermals under control. The added bulk isn't a flaw — it's what makes the laptop a performance beast.

The Primary and Secondary SSD slots are wrong in this article. The one below the Wifi module is the secondary PCIe 4.0 x4. My laptop even displays 'G5' on the primary slot, near the pins. Its not clear in the pictures provided in this article.

QuoteNote that gaming on Balanced mode reduces fan noise significantly from 54 dB(A) to just 40 dB(A) for just a 15 percent cut to graphics performance as mentioned above.

This is by far the best news about this device. Finally quiet gaming (not desktop pc level, but for me absolutely acceptable) without sacrificing too much performance thanks to great cooling. Massive vapor chamber, two big fans, one small one. Does anyone know if the 5070 Ti gets the same cooling? This would be awesome, because it could provide even quieter fans or less performance sacrifice due to only 140 watts TGP.

Sadly, Balanced Mode still leaves quite a bit of performance on the table. The cpu and gpu temperatues are much lower than on Performance Mode. Why? Most of us don't want cooler temperatures, we just want quieter fans. Just leave the temperature limits like on Performance mode and only reduce the fan speed. Even on Performance mode the cpu thermally throttles once it reaches 90°C. It would do the same with lower fan speeds. The same applies to the gpu which is more than 20°C below its thermal limit.

Does their control center allow to fix this? I returned my Legion Pro 7 from 2024 because Vantage did not allow to reduce fan spees under load in Manual mode.

Exactly. I hate how Balanced or Quiet modes cripple the wattage at fixed values rather than simply reducing fan speeds and let the whole thing throttle as it must.

Old Legions allowed this behaviour with LegionFanControl. It is a true blessing and hard to give up.

In the noise test table what is the CPU temperature in "Load average*" mode? With only 27.8dB fan noise? Similar laptops like the OMEN 16 goes to 47.7dB. And the OMEN "Idle maximum*" with only 29dB? Something strange for similar consumption values...

Not a single word about this 4.2k machine lacking a thunderbolt 5 port? Competitors will sport 2 of said ports in in similarly equipped systems (some of them beein even less expensive).

All the best

Something doesn't add up with the power consumption numbers ... the idle min/avg/max is 30-40 W/h yet the Wifi 1.3 test (whatever usage it includes) shows 323 min (so over 5h) which for a 99Wh battery means an average of less than 20 W/h ... it looks like the measurements during the so-called idle are not accurate or it's not exactly idle

Hello, your test indicates that the PWM frequency of the screen is about 1400 Hz. Is this really accurate information? Usually the PWM frequency of OLED laptops is much lower, and you yourself indicate that this Samsung panel is close to the one used by Asus. But the PWM frequency of Asus is much lower. This is already the third Lenovo laptop in your tests that has such a high PWM frequency. Has Lenovo really started to somehow increase the PWM frequency, unlike all other manufacturers? Even though the panels themselves are the same as those of other manufacturers?
