Look at the Sony website as I did and it works by either removing or adding heat to a stainless steel plate that comes in contact with your skin attached to the back of the neck.

Look at it as an additional option, when placing your hands and or feet in chilled water for 10-15 mins at a time isn't practical, alongside drinking chilled water.

Dehumidifiers need to get rid of condensed water, and only really work effectively in an airtight room. Although they act as a noisy 150W heater in use removing excess moisture, while increasing temperature by a degree they actually make the room feel more pleasant.

What I'm getting at is a wearable dehumidifier, would be as pointless as having the air con on in a car whilst having the car windows open.

The effect of an air conditioner is not just cooling but removing the excess humidity. How does it achieve that? Or is it just a feeling of cooling that one gets because of the cold stainless steel plate touching the chest?

I have this unit and find it does a good job. However, i have had several cases where the strap/exhaust portion seperates from the body. Then the body is loose and drops. This seems to be a design flaw. The connection is not strong enough.

With the Reon Pocket Pro, Sony is launching the latest generation of its wearable thermal system onto the market. The device is designed to protect the wearer from the heat or cold by providing a targeted cooling or warming effect on the neck - ideal for summer, commuters, cyclists or everyday office life. We tested the device in everyday use.
