It would be believable if companies like MS that spam AI every other word weren't using AI as an excuse to lay people off only to hire folks in underdevelopped countries for a fraction of the salary.
Maximizing profits is the only motive, AI isn't the solution yet, and they know it.
The mass layoffs at Microsoft have shut down a lot of upcoming projects and dismantled several established development teams. One developer has now stated that the company is looking to replace its workforce with AI agents wherever possible.
