Maybe for the superficial fools who care more about having something to show off and brag about than actual functionality.  Admittedly, these morons are most likely the tech companies best customers as they're more willing to buy the latest and greatest on a constant basis than anybody with even a modicum of self-restraint and common sense. Those of us falling into the latter category care MUCH more about durability, functionality, and actual value.

The Honor Magic V5 has popped up at MWC Shanghai 2025 in a rather bizarre early showcase. Paraded around on water, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 and Vivo X Fold5 is said to weigh less than 220 g while also coming in at around 8.9 mm thick when closed.
