I was struck by the feeling I saw it before. That said, there is one difference. HarmonyOS PC is not based on Linux, Android, Windows or MacOS.

Its a completely independent operating system with its own micro kernel and native packaging format.

The Chinese have been justly criticised for being derivative but out of necessity, they had to forge their own path forward.

Uncle Sam was stupid in telling China Man, no you can't use American technology, which badly backfired.

Gone are US backdoors into the Chinese government and business sectors. They no longer have to be dependent on American technology to achieve national objectives.

And the West no longer has leverage on them - which is exactly what Huawei decoupled itself from.

The interface looks like Deepin 25 which has many of the same features and can run on PCs and in VMs,

For now, HarmonyOS PC is made to run on ARM 64 chips only which is the Huawei Keirin in house chip architecture.

Currently its distributed only on Huawei devices in China but its possible it could be ported to X86 PCs and be available worldwide in the future.

We'll see.

I hope it does become available in western countries. It would be interesting to try it out and compare it against Windows, MacOS and Linux.

Huawei wants to move away from Windows to some extent, which is why it will ship its laptops and desktop PCs with HarmonyOS 5 in the future. The manufacturer is now finally showing off its new operating system and also explains some technical details.
