I noticed this on the company work laptop. It's a very decent laptop, and was working OK on Win10, but the IT Department decided to downgrade all laptops to Win11. So I keep noticing how right-clicking is slower, windows+space is A LOT slower (for those of us who change languages), the CPU fan is active A LOT more than before (it used to be sporadic, now it's almost always constantly revved up)... and a long list of small and not so small stuff that just makes me wonder... how did MS mess this up so much?

I might end up upgrading my personal computers to Linux. I'll test a couple of distros on my laptop, and if everything looks good, I'll do the same with my main PC. 100% getting sick of MS's bs.

I upgraded my Win10 to Linux Mint. No problems

The tpm2.0 requirement is not the only problem to update to win11. My own (old) Alienware is equiped but it has a 6th gen core i5 and will not be able to be upgraded...

All that might be said is that WIN11 is gaining market SHARE. Period.

Users likely detest WIN11 as much as they did before (or even MORE so!) but over time some systems are ether retired/replaced or the users begrudgingly install WIN11.

Market share does not equate to likability.

That was true with Windows 8.1 too. If you haven't upgraded to a SSD/NVME for your OS drive you're the only one to blame. HDD are for storage only, not regular R/W

Windows 10 is already super slow OS vs 8 core version. Especially on hard disk and old integrated graphics. And w.update offers incorrect drivers.

My upgrade was quite simple actually.

The tool said I didn't qualify due to old hardware.

I logged into KVM, went to the Windows VM parameters and clicked up the TPM option and set it to 2.0.

The next day MSFT opened the upgrade path and it completed in a couple of hours.

Then I logged the VM off.

Maybe I will get around to actually using it someday.
