What is going on

The AIDA64 read speed (important for AI / LLM self-hosting) of
Quote63260 MB/s
is too low. In the same table the Yoga Pro 7 14 G9 reaches
Quote99376 MB/s
. The G9 should actually be slower, as its memory bandwidth is lower: LPDDR5x-7500 (vs 8000), dual channel.

The theoretical RAM memory bandwidth of LPDDR5X-8000 is:
8000 * 128-bit (2 * 64-bit per channel) / 8 / 1000 = 128 GB/s.
The practical is something like 70% to 80% of it:
128 GB/s * 0.7 = 89.6 GB/s, but only 63.26 GB/s is measured.

Can anyone explain this?

I just wish there was at least a 48 GB RAM version, and/or, better, a 64 GB RAM version available. With more and more AI LLM MOE models (MOE type LLMs are bigger in size, but run much faster than dense ones), like the recently released Qwen3 MOE models, they require more RAM (vs comparable dense models) (e.g. MOE type Qwen3-30B-A3B-Q6_K.gguf is 25.1 GB in size, and dense type Qwen3-32B-Q6_K.gguf is 26.9 GB). 32 GB RAM + whatever Windows 11 requires, doesn't leave much, if anything, for the LLM.
LENOVO, the AI age is here, please release more RAM versions for this exact IdeaPad type soon.

Indeed, the screen looks nice so far: OLED, 120 Hz, sub 1 ms pixel response times. Nothing against a 144 Hz one tho, as many old 3D esports games would run at 144 Hz even with this Radeon 860M iGPU.

Well, at least the screen is bright enough and RAM is 32GB. Plenty of laptops at this price point still go with dim screens and 16GB soldered RAM.

There's just no reason to get AMD at this point; no reason to get this over Ideapad Pro Arrow Lake H version. Intel is better at performance and battery life.

too many models and no consistent quality. this is getting ridiculous. this company feels like a buffet where half the food makes you puke and 2% of the food might be amazing.  it's getting old. figure it out.

This is what I call an amazing laptop.

Gives you everything for under 1000 euro. Not some overpriced 2000-3000 crap.

Those high levels of fan noise are pretty insane 😳 Sans that it honestly looks like an amazing laptop for not even 1K€.

With the IdeaPad Pro 5 14, Lenovo is offering a compact multimedia laptop with a fast Ryzen 7 processor from AMD, a 120 Hz, 2.8K OLED and an HDR brightness of up to 1,100 nits, which is already calibrated out of the box.
