This is exciting. As currently OLED reigns supreme as far as visual quality is concerned. But OLED is not fit for content creators and office work.
Now this would fill the gap and if they can do it on the cheap then it would be a winner.

Sony has developed a new RGB LED backlight that is intended to offer better image quality compared to conventional mini-LED screens. The technology is a step towards microLED displays and is scheduled to enter mass production as early as this year.
