'a real treat' - this made me laugh so hard.

Hope these issues get resolved for you before too long!

Touchpads? Like the ones on PS4/PS5 controllers? Can't say for sure about PS5 cause I never bought one but the ones on PS4 weren't that good. Only really dependable for quick directional swipe and tap commands that could just as easily be accomplished by tilting and clicking a joystick. Steam Input takes that a step further as well by offering Mode Shift and Button Chords to cover a very wide spectrum of commands while programming a layout.

My controller has been disconnecting randomly. Sometimes it does 3 to 6 times in a row. It makes live gaming a real treat.

Maybe they will bring touchpads some day, how I suggested many times already. Its the only way to be as precise as mouse with finger touch, if set to touch based control, not joystick one, where the movement sticks, unlike when using classic touchpad.
Could be a software option tho, but it wouldn't be inferior to mouse so much...

Gamers may want to avoid a recent Xbox controller firmware update if it's not too late. Version 5.23.5.0 has been causing reports of unexpected analog stick movements. An Xbox support agent explained that a new virtual dead zone feature is causing the problem.
